Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County

The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County (LACSD) protect public health and the environment through innovative and cost-effective wastewater and solid waste management, and in doing so convert waste into resources such as recycled water, energy, and recycled materials.  LACSD partnered with Grades of Green to bring its first Trash Free Lunch Challenge in 2011-2012, resulting in over 70% of lunch-time waste being diverted from landfills for the participating schools within its region.  LACSD has sponsored the the Trash Free Lunch Challenge in 2012-2013, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2016-2017, and this year's 2017-2018 Challenge.
