A Look Back on the Los Angeles Youth Corps Eco-Leadership Program

As the year comes to an end, we find ourselves thinking about the growth of all of our programs and how amazing Grades of Green students are! For example, our Los Angeles Youth Corps Eco-Leadership program has changed a lot over the years. The Youth Corps program began in 2011 with just 12 students and over the course of the last 6 years, 160 students have participated!

  Our eco-leaders have seen some amazing results through their Grades of Green Activities, such as:

  • Diverting 6,800 shoes from landfills;
  • Starting 14 Grades of Green Teams;
  • Educating 665 students about green cleaning;
  • Recycling 48,600 pounds of e-waste;
  • Eliminating 15,200 pounds of clothing and textiles through used goods drives;
  • Reducing 198,500 pounds of waste.

  • This year, Grades of Green welcomed 55 passionate students to our 7th annual Youth Corps Eco-Leadership program. We are only halfway through the 2017-2018 year and we are already looking forward to what these leaders accomplish.

      Inspired by these eco-leaders? Sign up now for Grades of Green’s Water Challenge, which begins in January 2018! Interested in learning more and getting your school involved? Click here or email us today at info@gradesofgreen.org. Registration closes early January.
