Description
The Trash Redux initiative focuses on reducing the amount of trash produced by schools. It promotes conservation practices, awareness efforts and thoughtful decision making in order to obtain a “zero waste” platform in schools.
Outcome
Students learn to look at trash as a resource and to distinguish where they can reduce their consumption and what they can reuse, recycle, or compost, as opposed to throwing something away. This information is passed onto family and friends who join in on the trash reduction efforts. Schools and families begin to “close the loop” and work towards generating zero waste through reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting.
