Electricity Challenge

Electricity production is the leading cause of industrial air pollution in the United States, and is responsible for 40 percent of the nation’s carbon emissions that contribute to global climate change.

Each week Grades of Green will feature a toxic chemical found in schools and homes and explain why it is dangerous for students and the environment, and what you can do to get the chemical out of your home or school. Use this information to work with your school or District to eliminate toxic chemicals in the school and increase awareness in the community on what these chemicals are, why they are dangerous, and how you can avoid them. Studies show that students learning in a toxin-free environment have higher test scores and decreased absences. There are many green options available and now is the time to take action!
